An award-winning riverside pub in Guildford, The Britannia serves up fine food, drink and family-friendly hospitality right at the heart of town.
Boasting an enviable location on the banks of the River Wey, it’s both a popular spot for locals and a great base for visitors - with the town’s top attractions and historic cobbled High Street just a stone’s throw away.
For fans of real ale though, The Britannia is a star attraction in itself. The ideal place to seek out a proper pint, the pub serves distinctive Kentish ales from Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame, along with a range of international lagers and world wines.
It’s all to be enjoyed in our contemporary, open-plan lounge and bar - or outside on our spacious deck, where cosy fleece blankets allow your alfresco evening to go on long after the sun goes down.
There’s superb food here too, with our kitchen serving a delicious range of traditional pub snacks and main meals every day. And with a special menu for young diners, it’s one of the best pubs in Guildford to get together as a family.
We have high chairs, books and games and a designated baby changing area - and you can even bring the dog! Water bowls, treats and dog beds are all available at the bar.
For patrons of all kinds, it’s a place to find rest, refreshment and relaxation by the river - we look forward to seeing you all soon.
The Britannia serves a wide selection of freshly-prepared traditional pub dishes, making the most of fresh seasonal produce, sourced locally whenever possible

The pub faces the canal, there is parking right outside. We were greeted with a very warm welcome, sat down in front of the fire and ordered food and drinks which were brought to us including a selection of dog biscuits on our drinks tray. The very friendly waiter then asked if we wanted water for the dog and brought back a bowl for her. The food arrived a we were also impressed how nice it was. All the staff were very friendly and we also returned the next day on the way home after our overnight stay. By the way, our dog was the only one in the pub on both occasions. People who think the pub would be over-run by smelly dogs, this is not the case. This will be a regular stop off for us now, great pub and a great find.

Back to The Britannia for another excellent Sunday Roast. This is by far the best value roast in Guildford and The Brit is an excellent place to go and have it. I realised today one of the reasons I like The Brit so much is it has such an eclectic mix of customers. Other things of note are the dog beds that are supplied should your dog need a nap and the blankets for your knees if you're feeling a bit nippy after that bracing walk along the Wey.
